This is the official website for the band 24*13. 24*13 has been playing together going on 5 years. Jack McKee and Kevin Kirland had been playing together for a couple of years and were looking for a lead guitarist and singer. In a rather fortuitous twist of fate Jack and Kevin met Josh McGowan a talented guitarist, songwriter and singer. They decided to join ranks and
formed 24*13 and have not looked back. Early on Jack, Kevin and Josh considered a number of different names for the band and finally settled on 24*13. The name of the band is derived from a police beat within the Chicago Police Department which is located in the 24th District (Rogers Park). In the summer of 2009, the trio decided to become a quartet by asking the very talented Erin Egan to join the band. Erin’s talents have added a whole new dimension to the bands music and on stage persona that has been well received by the band's loyal following of fans.
24*13’s music is rooted in Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues, but they have an understanding and appreciation of all different types of music. 24*13 has an extensive catalogue of original material of which the music and lyrics are both relevant and inspirational. They also do great covers of songs ranging from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and U2 to Buddy Guy and John Mayer.
During their time together 24 *13 has recorded 4 CD’s. The Titles of these CD’s are “The Way”, “Tempted Fate”, “Tired, Dizzy and Hot”, and “Distant Ties”. The most recent CD, “Distant Ties” was recorded in July 2011 at Rax Trax Studio located in Chicago, IL. It is the Band’s best work to date. It consists of 6 original songs with wonderful lyrics and arrangements. It showcases each of the band member’s individual talents, but more importantly how powerful they are as a group.
Over the years, 24 * 13 has played live shows including festivals, graduation parties and fundraisers. They have played at the Edgebrook Fest, Edison Park Fest and at the Heartland Café in Evanston, IL. 24 *13 has been hosting a Benefit Concert annually during the Christmas Holiday Season since 2008. The benefit concert has raised over $9,000.00 for members of the Chicago Police Department who have been fighting for our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. The money was used to provide them with essential supplies they would not receive otherwise. The show has grown in popularity and 24 * 13’s fan base has as well. The most recent show was held on January 8th 2011 at the Irish American Heritage Center and was the most successful to date. 24 * 13 put on a great show and everyone had a fantastic time.
